Robert James Ritchie, better known as Kid Rock, was born in Michigan and began to make a name for himself as a hip hop artist during the early 1990s, notably working with the Insane Clown Posse. During this time, he established himself as one of Detroit’s best-known rappers. His early albums include Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast, The Polyfuze Method and Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp. Kid Rock’s major label debut, Devil Without a Cause would follow in 1998. The title track featured the line “I’m going Platinum” and his bold prediction came to fruition; the album was platinum certified eleven times. Over the next few years, Kid Rock followed up that success with the 2001 album, Cocky, and tours with the likes of Metallica, Blink-182 and Limp Bizkit.
When Rock returned with his eponymous album in 2003, it marked another change in musical direction, as the singer moved towards a southern rock and country music sound. In early 2004, he made an appearance during the Super Bowl XXXVIII half-time show and in 2006, he released his first live album. In 2007, Rock n Roll Jesus became the first Kid Rock album to top the Billboard 200 chart. It would mark a high point in the artist’s career, eventually receiving two Grammy nominations and spawning the international hit, “All Summer Long.” Yet another style shift came in 2010 when Rock released Born Free – an album with a strong country vibe and the first Kid Rock album to avoid having a “Parental Advisory” sticker.
Now, on the heels of his acclaimed new album First Kiss, Kid Rock – along with his trusted Twisted Brown Trucker Band – are back on the road with very special guests Tim Montana & The Shrednecks for the "First Kiss: Cheap Date Tour."
